This week we are looking at this part of the knowledge organiser:
I can separate healthy foods from ones we should have less often.
In this weeks lesson we will look at the Eatwell Guide. This guide gives us an idea of what we should be eating and drinking to keep ourselves healthy. You will notice the plate shown in the guide has been split into 5 parts, each part contains different types of food that give us what we need to be active, they will also help our body repair itself if we are poorly or fall and hurt ourselves! Who knew we have superhero food?
Have a look at the slideshow to learn more about what an ideal meal should be made up of.
Did you notice that sugary snacks, crisps and fizzy pop isn't included in the Eatwell Guide? This is because our body doesn't need these types of food - it gets all the nutrients and vitamins it needs from the 5 other food types. These foods are still ok to eat they but should be treated as treat food and eaten less often.
Have a go at the activity below. Can you sort the food into healthy food and food we shouldn't eat so often. Can you decide where the food would go in the Eatwell Guide
