Design & Technology

*Please note that the Design Technology work below is an amendment to the spring unit on our long term plan owing to lockdown. We made this change as we felt families would more readily have the resources available to undertake cooking projects.
Release your inner-chef during lockdown!
Use the time to improve your cookery skills.

A key as

A key aspect of the Design Technology National Curriculum is Cooking & Nutrition.  As part of their learning ‘… pupils should be taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Instilling a love of cooking in pupils will also open a door to one of the great expressions of human creativity. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life. Pupils should be taught to:

  • understand and apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet
  • prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques
  • understand seasonality, and know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed'

So during lockdown why not release your inner chef?! Below are some recipes of the right skill level for Year 6 pupils BUT REMEMBER: YOU MUST CHECK WITH AN ADULT FIRST AND ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED.

Have fun cooking – send us some pics of your finished creations to make our mouths water!
