This year we were given the exciting opportunity to take part in a project run by Calderdale Libraries called ‘Calderdale Children’s Book of the Year 2017’. Many schools applied for the project and we were one of the lucky ones to be given the opportunity.
We were provided with books, all of which had been written by current, celebrated children’s authors with the aim that children read all four books and write a short review on each.
The finale of the project was on 23rd June at Halifax Town Hall where we had a Literary Lunch. We got the chance to meet the authors of the books we had read and reviewed, and in small groups we discussed the books with the authors. Each child then voted for their favourite book and a winner for Calderdale Children’s Book of the Year 2017 will be decided.
