Calderdale Netball Finals

Seven teams were represented at the Calderdale Finals and the teams played each other in one huge round-robin league. Unfortunately, our first match proved to be against the toughest opposition and we made a couple of silly mistakes that led to goals against us. In the end, we lost this game 3 - 1 to Ripponden School who were unbeaten on the night and went on to be overall champions of Calderdale. However, Old Town were not put off by the early defeat and went on to win all of their remaining 5 matches, beating strong teams from all over Calderdale along the way. We were runners-up and as well as receiving silver medals, we won an invitation to the West Yorkshire School Games.

Old Town have been to the West Yorkshire School Games on 4 other occasions - in 2008 for Netball and Tag-Rugby and in 2009/10 for tennis. We qualified for Netball in 2002 but unfortunately had to miss the games because our team was on their School Residential......so it was great to be back. For such a small school, it's a fabulous achievement to qualify.
